A male Portland resident is suspected to have drowned in the Blue Lagoon in the parish yesterday.

He is Robert Ford, a resident of David Lane in Port Antonio.

Reports are that at about 4:30 pm, Ford got into difficulty while swimming.

Upon receiving an alert, the police were notified and divers from the Alligator Head Foundation later recovered his body from the water.

This is the second suspected drowning incident in the parish in seven days.

Last Tuesday, Demario Jones, a second-year student, at the College of Agriculture, Science and Education (CASE) died after he got into difficulty at a beach at the campus in Passley Gardens.
