There will be several changes this year, including new events, a new scoring system and a new venue, for the third staging of the Jamaica Badminton Association Shuttle Showdown tournament in October.

This as organisers seek to make the competition more attractive and engaging over two weekends – October 10 and 11 and October 17 and 18, 2026.

The shuttle showdown will become the first badminton tournament to implement the Badminton World Federation’s new scoring format, giving Jamaican players valuable experience under the latest international competition rules.

Jamaica Badminton Academy director Kenneth Anglin, said the changes are part of the effort to keep the tournament evolving while providing a meaningful platform for players.

With Jamaica producing strong results at the Caribbean level, Anglin a two time national doubles champion believes the time is right for greater attention to be placed on badminton at home.

Meantime rules, entry requirements and information on the various events are available through the Jamaica Badminton Academy’s website.
