Team Jamaica Bickle spearheads financial awards for Jamaican athletes

Several Jamaican athletes and high schools will benefit from significant financial support through Team Jamaica Bickle tomorrow, when the organization presents a total of US$11,700 in Penn Relays performance awards at a ceremony to be held at GC Foster College.

 

The awards, made possible in part through the generous support of the Burton-Hutchinson Family Fund, form part of TJB’s continuing commitment to recognizing athletic excellence while strengthening the development and well-being of Jamaica’s student-athletes.

Funds awarded to participating schools are specifically designated to support their athletic nutrition programmes.

High schools winning a Championship of America event in the boys’ and girls’ 4×100 metres, 4×400 metres and 4×800 metres relays will each receive US$1,500, while the individual recipients will each receive US$1,200.

The list of 2026 institutional awardees includes Edwin Allen High, which successfully defended its girls’ 4×100 metres Championship of America relay crown; Hydel High, which won the girls’ 4×400 metres title; and Jamaica College, which captured the boys’ 4×100 metres crown at the Penn Relays earlier this year.

The individual awardees are Zavien Bernard of Hydel High School, for the triple jump; Zoelle Jamel of Immaculate Conception High, for the javelin; Marla-Kay Lampart of Clarendon College, who won the girls’ discus; and Michael-Andre Edwards of Jamaica College, who was crowned the boys’ high school triple jump champion.

The list is completed by Joseph Salmon of Jamaica College, for the discus, and Gary Card of UTech, who won the men’s 100 metres title.
