
Education Minister Dr. Dana Morris Dixon has announced plans to amend the HEART/NSTA Trust legislation to allow high school students to graduate with skills training certification.
Only students 17 years and older are allowed to be enrolled in HEART programmes.
Speaking at the Jamaica Teachers Association’s (JTA) annual conference, Dr. Morris Dixon noted that efforts are being made to revamp HEART to facilitate greater engagement of high school students.
Dr. Morris Dixon called on teachers to help encourage parents to support children who are interested in pursuing studies in technical vocational areas.
