The agriculture ministry will soon implement a new fertilizer distribution programme, with stricter inventory management.
This in the wake of a recent report by the Auditor General, about the 2019 to 2023 programme.
The audit found that while the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) had the appropriate systems in place to track the distribution of agricultural output, it could not provide proof that the allocation given to some members of parliament were distributed to farmers.
Speaking at a Post Cabinet Press Briefing, Mr. Green said the new distribution programme will target short term crops, especially for the Christmas season.
Mr. Green pointed out that under the new programme, a list of beneficiaries must be submitted to RADA, prior to fertilizer being allocated to parliamentarians.
