The Labour and Social Security Ministry will be prioritising outstanding household needs and facilitating further interventions based on the findings of ongoing assessments in some St. Catherine communities following flash floods at the weekend.

This, as the the Ministry has been responding to reports of flood damage in the parish.

Preliminary information indicated that one house on Bronx Street in Linstead sustained minor damage, impacting two people.

The Social Security Ministry has so far issued food packages and hygiene kits.

In the meantime, following further reports of flooding in Jericho, a team was dispatched to investigate and determine what assistance may be necessary.

To further strengthen relief operations in the parish, the Ministry has dispatched a further consignment of supplies to its parish office.

The additional resources will enable parish officers to extend practical assistance to affected families, particularly those requiring essential household items following the flooding.

The Ministry is also assisting over 300 residents in St. Thomas, who were also affected by flooding.
