United Oil and Gas is reporting positive progress towards potential oil exploration offshore Jamaica.
This, following the completion of a study assessing drilling rigs, equipment availability and logistical support for its Walton-Morant licence.
The company says the study conducted by NRG Well Management, identified more than ten potential drilling rigs along with key equipment requirements.
It also outlined a logistics plan that would make use of Jamaica’s existing port facilities and commercial services.
The findings support ongoing discussions with potential farm-in partners who could help finance and advance a future exploration campaign.
United Oil and Gas says the completed study provides potential partners with practical information on how a drilling campaign could be carried out.
However, the company has stressed that the study does not represent a commitment to begin drilling.
Any future exploration programme would depend on securing commercial agreements and obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals from the Government of Jamaica.
The company says its immediate priority is concluding discussions with potential partners to move the project forward.
While the findings point to significant exploration potential, the presence of commercially recoverable oil has yet to be confirmed.
