Nine outstanding Jamaicans were awarded by the St. Ann Municipal Corporation during its Heroes’ Day civic and award ceremony yesterday.

Held under the theme “Resilient people with a proud heritage: honouring our community heroes”, the ceremony saw the recognition of seven individuals for distinguished service in their respective fields, along with two persons who received special awards for their dedicated service to the Corporation.

Those awarded are: Reverend Delroy George Sittol for Religion; Dr. Darien Henry for Media and Communication; Joy Roberts for Tourism; Patricia Pottinger-Bailey for Community Service; Patricia Gardener for Education; Reverend Dr. Huntley Brown for Philanthropy and Phillip Benjamin for Disaster Response.

The two special awards were presented to Councillor of the Bamboo Division, Sydney Stewart, who was recognised for long service to the St. Ann Municipal Corporation, with nearly 40 years of service as the Corporation’s longest-serving Councillor and human resource officer Hilary Dacosta, who was honoured for 34 years of service.
