The murder of 10-year-old Shani Coke and the fatal mob attack on the suspected killer in Troy, Trelawny on Tuesday, has pushed the parish’s murder tally to 7, so far this year.
It was the same figure recorded in the parish for the corresponding period last year.
The disclosure was made by Commander for the Trelawny police division, Superintendent Velonique Campbell, at an Area One town hall meeting on Wednesday.
She said three of the murders resulted from interpersonal conflicts.
Superintendent Campbell noted that her team has been working to reduce crime in the parish, with 11 firearms seized so far this year.
Among other achievements by the police is the capture of four wanted men.
