St. Ann Chamber of Commerce says recent staging of Reggae Sumfest provided major economic boost for local businesses

The St. Ann Chamber of Commerce says that the recent staging of Reggae Sumfest provided a major economic boost for local businesses.

The music festival was held at Plantation Cove in Priory at the weekend.

Speaking with IRIE FM News, Chamber President Kenneth Anglin said there was increased occupancy in the hotel and airbnb sector.

He said local restaurants, cook shops, and craft vendors also saw a surge in business, which drove higher revenues.

Mr. Anglin stated that the event enhanced the promotion of local tourism, as some visitors opted to extend their stay in the parish.

He said the event showcased St. Ann as a major tourism and entertainment destination.

The president expressed hope that the organisers will consider St. Ann as a prime location for the event again in the future.
