Likkle Addi responds after Caribbean Music Awards nomination sparks debate

Likkle Addi is responding to criticism surrounding his recent Caribbean Music Awards nomination.

The son of Dancehall star Vybz Kartel earned a nomination for Best New Dancehall Artist. However, some social media users questioned whether his recognition was based on his own work or influenced by nepotism.

In a post shared on social media, Likkle Addi said he was disappointed by the negative reactions.

“What’s disappointing is seeing so many grown adults rush to the comments to hate instead of simply saying congratulations.”

The deejay also pushed back against claims that his nomination was due to his father’s influence. He pointed to the international reach of his music, noting that his songs are streamed across multiple countries.

He added, “People asking, which song me sing? Aren’t genuinely asking, they’re trying to belittle me.”

Likkle Addi also expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, “Whether I win or lose, it’s an honour.”

Other nominees in the Best New Dancehall Artist category are Ayetian, Jamal, Skippa, Khandi Brawling, Najeerii, Nhance and Rani Rastaciti.
