YG Marley and siblings unite for Lauryn Hill tribute at BET Awards

YG Marley shared the spotlight with his siblings on Sunday night as the family came together to honor their mother, Lauryn Hill, during an emotional tribute at the 2026 BET Awards.

Lauryn Hill received BET’s inaugural Living Legend Icon Award during the ceremony at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, where an all-star lineup celebrated her influence on hip-hop, R&B, reggae and Black culture.

Among the night’s most memorable moments was the appearance of Lauryn Hill’s children, including YG Marley, Selah Marley and Zion Marley, who joined the tribute performance in front of a packed audience.

YG Marley, who has continued building momentum following the success of “Praise Jah in the Moonlight,” delivered a heartfelt performance that connected his mother’s legacy with the Marley family’s musical roots.

The tribute also featured appearances and performances from SZA, Doechii, Nas, Queen Latifah, Common, Doja Cat, Tems and more.

The celebration closed with Lauryn Hill surprising the crowd by stepping onstage to perform “Ex-Factor” after accepting the award from Ice Cube.

During her acceptance speech, she reflected on the importance of love, community and using music to uplift others.
