The Police’s Domestic Violence Unit is reporting that there has been a rise in the number of men taking women to Family Court over child maintenance disputes.

Corporal Adrian Cornwall attached to the Police’s Domestic Violence Unit noted the trend as part of a broader shift in family legal matters, highlighting growing tensions around financial responsibility after separation.

According to Corporal Cornwall many women have opted to leave their partners with the children because they believe the men will not seek child support.

He said in some instances, mothers also bar fathers from being involved in the lives of the children.

As a result he noted that the unit has been partnering with men to apprehend these females.
