“Jamaica’s borders are not easy targets.” Customs Agency intensifying efforts to stop movement of illicit drugs
“Jamaica’s borders are not easy targets.”
That is the declaration from Acting Commissioner of Customs, Dr. Kirk Benjamin, as he issued a stern warning to criminals and smugglers.
Speaking with IRIE FM news, Commissioner Benjamin says the Jamaica Customs Agency has increased its rate of detection and narcotics seizures at the island’s ports.
He attributes the increase to enhanced patrols, surveillance and intelligence-sharing with the Jamaica Constabulary Force, the Jamaica Defence Force, the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency, the Financial Investigations Division and international partners.
Commissioner Benjamin stressed that the Agency will not relent in its efforts to clamp down on the movement of illicit drugs in and out of the country.
