Opposition Leader Mark Golding raises concern over fatal-shooting of 11 men by the police within a 24-hour period
Opposition Leader Mark Golding has raised concerns over the fatal-shooting of 11 men by the police within a 24-hour period.
The men were killed during separate alleged confrontations with police in Clarendon, St. Catherine, St. Andrew, and St. James.
The incidents which took place on Tuesday and yesterday include 2 quadruple fatal shootings and 3 single fatal shootings.
Speaking in Parliament yesterday, Mr. Golding said that while he cannot comment on the specifics of these incidents, 11 people killed in such a short period is very concerning.
He said the Security Ministry must find ways to ensure accountability for the police’s use of extreme force.
Mr. Golding said with the increasing number of fatal shootings, families and the community have to wait an extended period of time to hear what the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) investigation produces.
