Crashes claim the lives of seven people since the start of June

Seven persons have died as a result of injuries they sustained in motor vehicle crashes since the start of June.
Vice Chair of the National Road Safety Council, Dr. Lucien Jones, said this brings the total number of road traffic deaths for the year to 170.
This represents a 29% reduction in road deaths this year.
The latest victims died in separate crashes at the weekend in St. Elizabeth on Saturday.
Police identified them as 5-month-old Kamarala Forbes of Haughton District, St. Elizabeth, and 58-year-old Llewelyn Johnson of Prospect District in Manchester.
The child died in a three-vehicle crash on the pepper main road, while Mr. Johnson also died in a three vehicle collision on on the content main road.
Commenting on the incidents, Dr. Jones said too many motorists are overtaking on the nation’s roads, resulting in person’s lives being put at risk.
Dr. Jones is calling for all passengers including children to be safely buckled up as they travel in vehicles.
