PNPYO calls for public apology from Young Jamaica, JLP’s Communication Taskforce for statements about Golding’s statutory declaration

The People’s National Party Youth Organisation (PNPYO) is calling on Young Jamaica and the Jamaica Labour Party’s Communications Taskforce to issue an immediate and public apology for what it says is the dissemination of a reckless, baseless, and malicious statement concerning Opposition Leader Mark Golding’s 2024 statutory declaration.

Three days ago, Young Jamaica called for Mr. Golding to publicly explain why his declarations had not yet been certified.

The PNPYO says it is deeply disturbed that such misinformation was sent to the media and disseminated to the wider public without even the basic level of research, verification, or due diligence.

This, as PNPYO said the Integrity Commission’s certification was published in the Jamaica Gazette on May 26, 2026, more than a week before Young Jamaica’s press release was issued.

PNPYO General Secretary, Peta-gay Ferguson, said that the public is entitled to ask whether this was simply negligence or a deliberate attempt to tarnish the reputation of the Leader of the Opposition, whose statutory declarations have been certified by the Commission, every year, since he became a Member of Parliament in 2017.
