Etana raises alarm over August Town violence

Reggae singer Etana has made a public appeal after revealing that members of her family in August Town, St Andrew, are reportedly under attack amid ongoing violence in the community.

Over the weekend, the Wrong Address singer, in a disturbing social media post, wrote in part, “my relatives are under attack in August Town.

Supporters flooded social media with prayers and messages of solidarity for the singer and her loved ones. Several fans also urged community leaders and law enforcement to act swiftly to restore calm in the area. Etana, whose music frequently promotes empowerment, unity and resilience, has long spoken about the struggles affecting inner-city jamaican communities.

August Town has faced periodic outbreaks of violence over the years, often linked to gang tensions and community unrest. However, murder in the community has been on the decline for several years, before the recent killings.
