Water Minister Matthew Samuda assures local businesses that Gov’t is investing significantly to boost nation’s water resilience

Water Minister Matthew Samuda has assured local businesses that the Government is investing significantly to boost the nation’s water resilience.

He was addressing the Jamaica Manufacturers and Exporters Association (JMEA) manufacture 360 degree conference.

Mr. Samuda underscored that water remains critical to national and economic growth.

Pointing to projects such as the construction of the Rio Cobre Water Treatment Plant in St. Catherine, Mr. Samuda said it will improve the water supply to the country’s industrial belt.

He also cited the multi-million dollar Western Resilience Water Project for which construction began two weeks ago, as well as the US$200 million invested in the Pedro Plains Irrigation Scheme in St. Elizabeth.
