Nomination Day for the May 22 Maroon Election in Accompong, St. Elizabeth, is in full swing despite reports that an injunction was granted by the court to block the activities.

The injunction was sought by Merdie Rowe, who is seeking to contest the election.

His attorneys told IRIE FM News yesterday that the injunction, which also sought to prevent Richard Currie from acting any further as Chief, was filed in the Supreme Court in Kingston last week.

They claimed that the judge, in granting the injunction yesterday, ordered that the Nomination and Election day activities be stayed until the matter is brought up in court on June 10.

However, when IRIE FM reached out to Chief Currie and Director of the Accompong Electoral Committee, Clavie Johnson, yesterday, both men denied being formally served the document.

They maintained their statements when contacted for an update this morning.

Mr. Johnson said nomination day activities commenced at 10 A.M., and the atmosphere was calm.

He said several nominees are expected to show up.
