Nearly 400 complaints submitted by citizens to Health Ministry last fiscal year
387 complaints were submitted to the Health Ministry for fiscal year 2025/26 in relation to citizens’ experiences at public health facilities.
Principal director of the Enabling Environment in Health and Client Services Unit, Dr. Kimorley Humphrey says 222 of the issues were addressed successfully.
The new unit within the Health Ministry focuses on enhancing the patient and client experience at the more than 300 health centres and 24 public hospitals across the country.
It’s responsible for the development and implementation of the citizens charter and wait experience programme launched yesterday to address how citizens experience health care in Jamaica.
Dr. Humphrey says citizens voices are being heard.
He says the Health Ministry is on a mission to transform patient experience, strengthen public trust and create systems that are responsive, accountable compassionate and citizen centred.
Dr. Humphrey notes that more than 386 workers across the health facilities have been trained and certified in service excellence.
