Agriculture Ministry embarking on a $145M Drought Mitigation Programme this year
The Agriculture Ministry will be embarking on a one hundred and $45 million drought mitigation programme this year.
Portfolio Minister Floyd Green said the programme will be led by the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA).
He was making his contribution to the Sectoral Debate in Parliament today.
The programme involves the construction of several mini water catchment ponds.
The programme also involves acquisition of more water trucks and installation of more drip irrigation systems.
Mr. Green added that the National Irrigation Commission is exploring options for non-traditional water sources.
