Classes at St. Elizabeth Technical High School being held online for second consecutive day following series of incidents on Wednesday

Classes at the St. Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) are being held online for a second consecutive day, following several altercations among students on Wednesday.

IRIE FM News understands that about 3 separate incidents, involving approximately 12 students, were reported at the institution.

Director of the Education Ministry’s region five, Susan Nelson Smith told IRIE FM News that four children were treated at hospital for injuries.

She said school administrators met with some parents yesterday and will continue discussions, as they try to find out what led to the altercations.

Mrs. Nelson Smith said psycho-social support will also be provided to students and staff who witnessed and had to intervene in the incidents.

She said face-to-face classes will resume on Monday.

In the meantime, Mrs. Nelson-Smith noted that a board meeting will take place next week, to determine the appropriate actions for the students involved in the altercations.
