State Minister for Local Government Delroy Williams says violence against children is a complex problem and cannot be solved by any one organisation

State Minister for Local Government Delroy Williams says violence against children is a complex problem.

As such he stressed that no single organization can resolve the issue alone.

He was speaking yesterday at the candlelight vigil in memory of children who died under violent circumstances.

The event was held at the Secret Garden in Downtown Kingston.

This year’s observance was held under the theme, “Prioritize our Children’s Mental Health: Strong Minds,Safer Future.”

Mr. Williams underscored the importance of providing safe spaces for children to communicate their concerns.

Dozens of community members, bereaved families and local leaders, gathered in memory of children who lost their lives under tragic circumstances.

Attendees lit candles, laid wreaths and observed a moment of silence, while organizers offered heartfelt remembrances and prayers, describing the event as a solemn tribute to the lives taken.

Th ceremony closed with a quiet procession through the garden and a call to support affected families and work toward greater protection for children in the community.
