Transport Authority launches probe into incident involving female student and bus conductor on public passenger vehicle

The Transport Authority has launched a probe into a recent incident involving a female student and a bus conductor, on a public passenger vehicle.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

In a statement, the Authority said while it has not yet independently verified the authenticity of the video, the matter is being treated seriously and has been referred to the relevant teams for review and investigation.

It said where appropriate, the Authority will engage the relevant stakeholders and, if necessary, the appropriate law enforcement agencies to determine the facts surrounding the matter.

The Authority says it remains committed to empowering commuters and continues to advance its public education and engagement initiatives to ensure commuters know how they can be protected from incidents of this nature.

In this regard, the Authority will continue hosting its Inspector–Commuter Engagement days islandwide.

The Authority reiterated that all Public Passenger Vehicle (PPV) operators are expected to maintain the highest standards of safety, order, and respect for all commuters at all times.

Operators are also reminded that they are entrusted with the safety and dignity of passengers and are expected to uphold professional conduct in the execution of their duties.
