One for the money, two for the show – Foreman dominates Women’s TJ at Penns 26

Former Excelsior High and St Jago High jumper, Shantae Foreman, is already looking towards the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June following her impressive win at the Penn Relays on the weekend.’

Foreman continued from where she left off indoors with a big win for Clemson University and won the event easily with a mark of 13.21 meters.

Already the Collegiate leader in the women’s triple jump in the United States, it only took Foreman two jumps to win the College Women’s championship on Saturday.

Foreman was among three individual Jamaican collegiate athletes who won at the Penn Relays.

Gary Card, formerly of Wolmers Boys, won the 100 meters in 10.34 seconds after running a personal best 10.03 seconds in the semi-finals.

Kai Chang, formerly of Calabar, gave the University of the West Indies a rare win at the meet after capturing the men’s discus throw with a distance of 59.26m.

Three other Jamaicans had top-three finishes for their institutions. Former Wolmer’s Girls’ high jumper Malaika Cunningham, representing the University of Villanova, was second in the high jump, clearing 1.70m.

Tri-Tania Lowe of G.C. Foster College was second in the women’s long jump with a distance of 6.27m.

Former Excelsior High sprint hurdler Sharvis Simmonds, of Clemson University, finished second in the 110m hurdles with 14.02 seconds

The University of Technology’s men’s 4x100m team, led by a scorching second leg from Card, had a second-place finish in 40.25 behind winners Ohio State, who clocked 39.56.

Former St Jago High sprint hurdler Briana Campbell, representing Clemson University, was third in the 100-meter hurdles in 13.80.
