JTA says preparations in high gear for salary negotiations with finance ministry today

The Jamaica Teachers Association, (JTA) says preparations are in high gear for salary negotiations with the Ministry of Finance and Public Service, today.

The meeting is set for 8:30 am at the ministry’s office in downtown Kingston.

Teachers in the public school system are reportedly agitated over the salary issues.

Last month, the JTA said, the government had agreed to pay the increments, however, no timeline was provided for when those payments would be made.

Teachers islandwide wore black yesterday, and are expected to do so today,  to register their frustration, due to the unresolved matter.

Speaking with Irie Fm News, president Mark Malabver says, the JTA will be prepared for today’s meeting.

Mr. Malabver is expressing optimism, that the ministry will be able to grant the JTA’s key items of claim.

He says if this is not done, there will be no deal.
