Not true! JAAA refutes impasse claims with Seville

The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA), is refuting claims that there was an impasse between agents acting on behalf of World 100 metres champion Oblique Seville and the local governing body regarding payment for travel tickets.

The JAAA, has however, admitted that there was an issue regarding the earliest date that Seville could return to Miami in order to meet a contractual obligation.

The local governing body in a statement today revealed that the athletes agent Norman Peart was advised that the earliest possible date on available flights, that would allow him to return to Miami was on May 5, 2026, after midday adding that they could not guarantee an earlier return.

The JAAA said on April 21, they received a written notice from Seville’s manager, Norman Peart, of the withdrawal of Seville from the World Relays team, and “wishing the team all the best in qualification for the World Championships and that the athlete continues to be available for the 4 x 100 metres all being well.

In the meantime, the JAAA have failed to respond regarding the reported withdrawal of Olympic silver medalist Kishane Thompson, Roshawn Clarke and Tajh Marques-White.

Thompson is reported to be down with an illness, Clarke is said to be suffering with a groin strain, while Marques-White is also understood to have withdrawn with an injury.

The 8th edition of the World Relays will be at the National Stadium in Gabarone, Botswana this Saturday and Sunday.
