Traffic police urge motorists to drive carefully following fatal crash in St Mary

The traffic police are urging motorists to drive defensively while traversing the island’s roads.

The appeal follows this morning’s deadly crash along the Boscobel main road in St. Mary.

Dead are 49 year old Terrice Richards and 57 year old Rudolph Cox, both of Jeffery Town.

Police report that the crash involved two motor cars being driven in the same direction.

It’s understood that the driver of one of the vehicles attempted to overtake another and while rejoining the line of traffic, collided with the rear section of the other vehicle.

Head of the police’s public safety and traffic enforcement branch senior superintendent Lloyd Darby said the crash again highlights the need to drive carefully.

He said the incident brings the number of persons who have died on the nation’s roads since the start of the year to 81.
