Executive Chairman of Sandals Resorts, Adam Stewart, has sought to assure that the new partnership with Royal Caribbean Group will help redefine all-inclusive vacationing in the region.
News of the signed agreement emerged yesterday, with Royal Caribbean announcing that it had made a 50 per cent investment in Sandals.
It resulted in widespread public discourse about how significantly Sandals, which opened its first resort in Montego Bay, St. James in 1981, before expanding into the Caribbean would change.
In a social media post, Mr. Stewart said that, for Sandals, the move is about growth with purpose.
He also noted that Royal Caribbean understands what Sandals has built, what the brand means to its guests and the responsibility that comes with carrying the legacy forward.
Mr. Stewart says Royal Caribbean brings tremendous global strength and experience while respecting the very things that make Sandals what it is.
In the meantime, the Sandals website says the company will remain unmistakably Sandals and Beaches will also continue to be the beloved family-focused brand its guests know and love.
Sandals says the Caribbean warmth, genuine hospitality, beautiful settings and personal service that define its brands are at the heart of the partnership with Royal Caribbean.
It stresses that the goal is to build on that experience, not replace it.
