Agriculture Ministry to launch an expanded Fruit Tree Planting Programme this Farmers’ Month
The Agriculture Ministry will be launching an expanded Fruit Tree Planting Programme this farmers’ month.
The announcement was made by Agriculture Minister Floyd Green at the official launch of Farmers’ Month, which is observed every April.
He said the initiative aims to establish 3,000 acres of fruit trees to replace those damaged during Hurricane Melissa.
The Agriculture Minister also expressed interest in implementing a dual programme in partnership with churches to help execute the initiative.
He further appealed to churches to partner with the ministry on the farmers’ market initiative.
The Ministry says Farmers’ Month seeks to recognize the invaluable contributions of farmers to national development, food security and economic growth.
