JTA President-elect La Sonja Harrison renews calls for teachers to have a seat at the table in key educational policy discussions
President-elect of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA), La Sonja Harrison has renewed calls for teachers to have a seat at the table in key educational policy discussions.
Speaking at the JTA’s 62nd Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony in Kingston yesterday, Ms. Harrison questioned how non-teachers could establish professional standards for teachers.
She said the JTA will continue to advocate for teachers’ voices to be heard.
Ms. Harrison also emphasized that educators must be a part of the conversation especially in rebuilding the education sector post Hurricane Melissa.
