A family of four is homeless, following a fire at Corn Piece Street Exchange, Ocho Rios St Ann this afternoon.

Reports to IRIE FM News are that a child who was at home reported seeing flames coming through the roof, followed by smoke sometime after one this afternoon.

Residents were alerted and the fire brigade summoned.

One unit from the Ocho Rios Fire Station responded.

Firefighters report that when they arrived the wooden structure was destroyed and they conducted cooling down operations.

Firefighters told IRIE FM News that the cause of the fire is undetermined.

In the meantime, residents told IRIE FM News that they attempted to put out the blaze

Homeowner Ms Sherine appealed for assistance, as she lost everything.

In the meantime, Councillor for the Exchange Division Ian Isaac’s who was at the scene says efforts have begun to get assistance to the two adults and two children.
