Olympic Sprint double Champion Elaine Thompson-Herah returns to local track scene  

Early season fireworks are on the cards as back to back Olympic sprint double champion Elaine Thompson-Herah, is listed to open her season in what will be her first appearance on the track since June 9, 2024. 

This when the 2015 World Championship, relay gold medallist competes in the Women’s 60 meters at the 21st staging of the Camperdown Classic set for the JC Asheniem Stadium in Kingston on Saturday. 

Thompson-Hearh suffered an achilles injury, when she finished last in the Women’s 100 metres with a time of 11.48 seconds at the New York Grand Prix, in June 2024, and has been out of sight since then.

Following the foot injury, she withdrew from the 2024 Jamaican National Senior Trials  and subsequently did not compete in the Paris Olympic Games.

Meanwhile,  the Tokyo world championship 100 meters gold medallist Oblique Seville, 2023 world 400 meters gold medallist Antonio Watson, and the 2025 World Championship 200 meters bronze medallist Bryan Levell are among some of the big stars who will be on show tomorrow. 

In the meantime, a record 2,879 athletes have been registered for the meet, which is sanctioned by the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association and will also see junior and senior athletes secure ranking points on the World Athletics Platform, ahead of the World Junior Games this summer in Oregon and the World Indoor Athletics Championship next month on Poland.

Athletes from Racers Track club, Sprint Tech, Dynamic Speed , Titanic, Motorcade, Optimum, GC Foster College, Mico and UWI Mona are down to compete.
