One person of interest in murder of soldier surrenders, another being sought
One of the individuals listed as persons of interest in relation to the murder of Jamaica Defence Force soldier Daniel Crawford along Stephen Lane in Kingston last evening has surrendered.
Police say a man known as Diddy turned himself in today.
Head of the Area 4 Police, Assistant Commissioner Michael Phipps gave the update to IRIE FM News this afternoon.
He urged the other person of interest, a woman identified as Kim, to surrender to the nearest police station immediately.
According to lawmen, at about 8:51 p.m., Private Daniel Crawford and a police officer were travelling in a private motor car when after receiving a phone call, the soldier indicated that he would be making a drop-off to a female friend along Waltham Park Road.
When both officers went to the location, Crawford was reportedly shot and wounded and the police officer was chased and fired on by gunmen.
The constable managed to escape and alerted other police officers.
Crawford was pronounced dead at the hospital.
