Caribbean nationals react after Bad Bunny Super Bowl performance

Many Jamaicans online are reacting to Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance after he shouted “Xamyca” while naming countries across the Americas during his Super Bowl XL halftime show on Sunday.

The performance, which highlighted Latin culture, ended with a powerful flag spectacle, as Bad Bunny called out several countries including Jamaica, Guyana, Cuba, and Saint Lucia.

Caribbean nationals quickly took to social media praising the Puerto Rican superstar, expressing gratitude after seeing their national flags represented on such a massive global stage.

While many credited Bad Bunny for an epic celebration of culture, others felt there was a disconnect, noting that the performance was delivered entirely in Spanish.

Despite the mixed reactions, Bad Bunny reportedly drew massive viewership, even as he faced backlash from some Americans, including criticism from United States President Donald Trump.

Reports say the performance attracted one of the largest halftime audiences in history, with an estimated 135 million viewers.

On the field, the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29–13 to win Super Bowl XL at Levi’s Stadium in California.
