JMMC leads charge to help raise funds after Hurricane Mellissa’s damage
The Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club (JMMC) is now leading the charge on the international race car circuit to help raise funds as well as awareness to support the island’s recovery from the devastation caused by the passage of hurricane Melissa on October 28.
The flagship initiative, entitled #rallyforrecovery, will make its global debut at the prestigious monte carlo rally between January 22 and 25, at the opening round of the 2026 F.I.A World Rally Championship.
The initiative by the JMMC has already seen the Italian-American driver Filippo Marchino, a close friend of the chairman of the JMMC Stephen Gunter joining forces, after Marchino volunteered his Rally2 car, to carry the campaign.
The vehicle will feature a bold sticker inspired by the Jamaican flag, prominently displaying the #rallyfor recovery message across the Rally 17’s special stages and more than 339 competitive kilometres through the French Alps.
Gunter described the partnership as a landmark moment for Jamaican motorsport
The JMMC has confirmed that 100 per cent of funds raised through the campaign will be channelled directly to the government of Jamaica’s official hurricane relief platform via supportjamaica.gov.jm, ensuring full transparency and accountability.
The initiative will extend throughout the 2026 motorsport season, and will cover all forms of Motor Racing, to include : Drag Racing, Drifting, Circuit Racing, Karting, and other disciplines – both locally and internationally.
