JTA President calls for more support for special needs children post-hurricane
President of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) Mark Malabver has called for discussions about special needs children even as efforts continue to recover from hurricane Melissa.
Since the passage of the hurricane, several of the island’s schools which were damaged by the storm have been trying to return to normalcy.
Last week, Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness and Education Minister Dr. Dana Morris Dixon toured a number of the schools impacted by Melissa to assess damage and the restoration works taking place.
Speaking with IRIE FM News, Mr. Malabver said that there have not been many discussions about the well being of special needs students, during this time.
