Sorrel a favourite drink this time of year, will be missing from the festivities for many Jamaicans.

The crop, like many other fruits, vegetables and ground provision was destroyed during Hurricane Melissa in October.

Where available consumers are likely paying high prices.

Chief Executive Officer of the Rural Agricultural Development Authority, RADA, Garnet Edmondson notes that sorrel is limited this festive season.

He explains that there are some challenges with the production of sorrel, but that steps are being taken to address them.

The RADA CEO says farmers have been provided with seeds and he anticipates that soon, sorrel production will be back to pre-hurricane Melissa levels.
