Brandon King named top Wisden debutant batsman in Test Cricket
Jamaican and West Indies batsman Brandon King has been named the top Wisden batsman among the 49 players who made their test debut in 2025.
The West Indies opener was dismissed for 26 in the first test innings that he played at Bridgetown – against Australia back in June.
In his second test King, batting at number 4, he struck a half century 75, top-scoring for the side in their score of 253.
In the third and final test against New Zealand last week in Mount Maunganui, he made 63 off 104 balls, while top scoring with 67 for the Caribbean side in the second innings .
King averaged 27.66 in six tests, and has played pivotal knocks against stronger teams since arriving on the scene.
Coming in at number 5 is the Australian Josh Inglis, who scored a hundred on debut against Sri Lanka after batting down the order, while also in the top 10 coming in at number 8 is the pacer Jacob Duffy who in eight innings, has taken 25 wickets at an average of 16.28 .
