South East St. Ann MP saddened by deaths of 2 constituents in Moneague crash

Member of Parliament for south-east St. Ann, Dr. Kenneth Russell, has expressed profound sorrow at the deaths of two of his constituents in a crash along Retirement Road in Moneague, yesterday.

Dead are 18-year-old Tashina Williams of York District and 30-year-old Randel Smith of Alderton District both in Claremont, St. Ann.

Reports are that at about 4:45 a.m. Williams and Smith were passengers in a white motor car being driven along the roadway, when it collided with a Honda motor car which was travelling in the opposite direction.

Upon impact, Williams and Smith were flung from the vehicle.

The drivers and passengers of both vehicles were taken to hospital where Williams and Smith succumbed.

The MP also issued an urgent appeal to motorists and all road users, emphasizing the critical need for heightened caution in light of dangerous road conditions across the constituency.

Dr. Russell reaffirmed his commitment to immediate action to help prevent future tragedies.

He pledged to work with the National Works Agency to accelerate infrastructure improvements.
