St. Ann, St. James and St. Catherine have recorded most of the country’s 91 suspected leptospirosis cases.

St. James has the highest with 19, followed by St. Ann and St. Catherine with 13 each.

Principal Medical Officer and National Epidemiologist, Dr. Karen Webster-Kerr gave an update during a press briefing this morning.

She said as at yesterday, of the 91 suspected leptospirosis cases recorded post Hurricane Melissa, 30 have been confirmed.

Dr. Webster Kerr added that 7 deaths have been confirmed.

She said males are more likely to contract the disease.
