Hundreds of line-workers deployed to Montego Bay to restore power to critical facilities and residential areas

Hundreds of line-workers from Jamaica, the Caribbean and North America were deployed to Montego Bay St. James yesterday, undertaking works to restore power to critical facilities and residential areas in the tourism capital.

The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) says it is cognizant of the vital role the city of Montego Bay plays in the national economy and as a major employer, for residents in the neighbouring parishes of  Westmoreland, Hanover, Trelawny and St. Ann.

Several essential services in the city have already received power supply, including some critical National Water Commission pumps, the Sangster International Airport and some commercial centres.

JPS says it’s committed to maintaining the flow of information to customers, as the restoration process continues, on the heels of the most devastating hurricane Jamaica has ever experienced.
