There is growing concern that St. Catherine residents severely impacted by Hurricane Melissa may not receive assistance any time soon.

Member of Parliament for St. Catherine North Western, Damion Crawford, raised the issue during an interview with IRIE FM News.

He explained that while St Catherine has been deemed an area moderately impacted by the hurricane, several homes no longer have a roof, and many farms were utterly destroyed.

Mr. Crawford noted that although the damage experienced in the parish cannot be compared to the impact on western parishes, several St. Catherine residents need help.

Efforts are being made to get relief packages and other forms of assistance to them.
