Oblique Seville among 14 distinguished Calabar past students, to be honoured by the Calabar Old Boys’ Association
World Championship 100 meters gold medalist Oblique Seville is one of 14 distinguished Calabar past students, who will be honoured by the Calabar Old Boys’ Association (COBA) later this month.
Seville who sped to victory in a lifetime best 9.77 seconds to win the Men’s 100 meters in Tokyo, will be awarded for his outstanding contribution to Jamaica’s track and field.
The list of awardees includes World Championship 110meters hurdles finalist Orlando Bennett, Director General of the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) Dr. Wayne Henry, Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. Joseph Blidgen, Media Practitioner Dervan Malcolm among others.
The annual awards ceremony is to be held on Saturday, November 22 at the UWI Regional Headquarters in Kingston.
In light of the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa, a portion of the event’s proceeds will go towards relief efforts for Calabar’s sister school, Westwood High in Trelawny.
President of the MVP Track Club Mr. Bruce James will deliver the keynote address.
