Former Prime Ministers, sector leaders invited to collaborate with Gov’t as relief efforts continue in aftermath of Hurricane Melissa

Former Prime Ministers and sector leaders have been invited to collaborate with the Government, as relief efforts continue in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.

Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment, and Sport, Olivia Grange, made the revelation as she noted that rebuilding after the Category 5 hurricane will require an all-hands-on-deck approach.

Ms Grange was speaking during a special press briefing at Jamaica House.

The move to involve the former prime ministers and other leaders is one of several initiatives being employed by the Government.

Another such measure includes the hosting of a series of ‘I Love Jamaica’ concerts, designed to raise an initial US$1 million in support of Hurricane Melissa relief and recovery.

They will be held in Jamaica and at venues overseas.

Some of Jamaica’s top talents, including Chris Martin, Masicka and Nigy Boy, have already been confirmed for a virtual concert and telethon on November 16.

Additional performers will be announced later this week.

The fundraising event will be broadcast from the Creative Production and Training Centre (CPTC) studios and will run from 3:30 P.M. to 10:30 P.M.
