MLSS says a message circulating on social media claiming the existence of a hurricane grant is false
The Ministry of Labour and Social Security says a message circulating on social media claiming the existence of a hurricane grant is false.
The Ministry says the figures being shared relate to relief grants that were provided to households affected by hurricane Beryl in 2024, and do not apply to the current situation.
The Government says it remains firmly committed to assisting all citizens affected by hurricane Melissa, and has started to conduct household damage assessments.
Information Minister Dr. Dana Morris Dixon said an official announcement on financial assistance to affected persons will be made in due course.
In the interim, the Government, and local and international partners continue the urgent distribution of relief supplies.
