NWC assures flushing, retesting of pipelines among activities conducted to ensure water distributed to customers of highest quality
The National Water Commission (NWC) has sought to assure that flushing and retesting of pipelines are among the activities conducted to ensure that the water distributed to customers is of the highest quality.
NWC’s Acting Corporate Public Relations Manager, Delano Williams, gave the assurance when questioned about turbidity in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa during a special press briefing yesterday.
Mr. Williams noted, however, that persons should remain vigilant and apply best health practices, such as purifying water by boiling or adding the recommended amount of bleach.
Mr. Williams said water will be trucked to impacted areas, but there may be challenges with accessing some locations due to damaged or blocked thoroughfares.
He said in those cases, the trucks will be sent to centralized areas.
