JPS restores power to 150,000 customers
The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) is reporting that as at 2:00 p.m. today it has restored supply to 150,000 customers across several parishes.
This as efforts continue following the passage of Hurricane Melissa.
President & CEO Hugh Grant said restoration work has advanced significantly in Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Catherine and St. Thomas.
Teams are on the ground continuing damage assessments in these parishes to restore all customers, however, there are some areas which are currently impassable.
The current projections for restoration by midnight tomorrow are for Kingston & St. Andrew 90%; St. Thomas 95%; Portmore 90%; and St. Catherine 85%.
Additionally, restoration has commenced in central Jamaica, as sections of Clarendon have been restored.
Grant said JPS teams are also working in Manchester to restore power to customers, with focus on getting power to the Mandeville regional hospital.
