Hurricane Melissa is already impacting several roadways, with strong winds taking down trees and utility poles and causing flooding.

The National Works Agency (NWA) said its teams are responding to several incidents across the island, weather permitting.

NWA Communication Manager Stephen Shaw pointed out that some roads rendered impassable will be cleared as soon as it’s safe to do so.

Among the affected areas is the Barnett to Adelphi roadway in St. James.

Mr Shaw urged citizens to report incidents to the agency’s emergency operations centre.
